Who we are
( And why we're here )
The Remedy is run by 2 friends—David and Renato —who, once upon a time, worked together at Terroirs. There, we realised our shared passion for the type of food, wine and hospitality found in the bars du vins and enotecas of Continental Europe. And so we decided to bring that relaxed, authentic vibe to London and open a place of conviviality, warmth and instant welcome.
We started The Remedy as a neighbourhood spot but also as an oasis for wine enthusiasts – a place where folks could try some new, something unusual.
David (aka DC) was a jaded finance professional until he (wisely) decided to give it all up for the love of wine. Prior to his stint at Terroirs, DC worked at The Winery – David Motion’s legendary wine shop in Maida Vale. There, he developed a serious passion for Riesling, grower Champagne and great Burgundy. He also learned how to pronounce Trockenbeerenauslese and Erzeugerabfüllung.
Renato comes from a Sardinian wine-making family. Educated in tourism, he has worked front of house for lots of big names in London hospitality, including Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver during Fifteen’s heyday. Renato is super passionate about food provenance. He also makes a killer negroni. Just don't get him started on the word 'lovely'.
